From the beginning, the Royal Mayfair has set a high standard. Our 18-hole championship layout
continues to provide our members with the best course conditions in Edmonton.
In 1927, the Board of Governors contracted leading architect Stanley Thompson to remodel the course into its present-day championship form. Stanley Thompson was a course genius, who left his mark on landscapes throughout Canada and abroad. Today, we feel that the design he created for us has been uniquely rewarding.
Stanley Thompson himself has summarized his design philosophy by saying, "The most successful course is one that will test the skill of the most advanced golfer without discouraging the duffer while adding to the enjoyment of both.”
Over the past century, the Royal Mayfair has played host to a number of notable events, including the Canadian Open, the Canadian PGA Championship, and two LPGA CN Canadian Women’s Opens. Professional golfers from around the world have rated the Royal Mayfair course layout and conditions as some of the best they have played, and we pride ourselves on bringing such world-class conditions to our members on a daily basis.
